You do not need to attend your court date for the next few weeks. The Ontario Court of Justice has issued automatic remand dates.
See the corresponding remand or adjournment date for the date you have court.
In addition, almost all out of custody trials, preliminary inquires, decisions, sentence hearings, and applications dates will also go over. Unless you can prove to the judge or justice why your matter is urgent and needs to go ahead, then your matter will go over.
The bail courts have been very busy. There have been pop up bail courts with extra staff, Justices of the Peace, Crown Attorneys, and Duty Counsel.
Also, the public has not been allowed in the courthouses but for sureties or professionals related to the administration of justice. It was also somewhat relieving to see extra police staff and hand sanitizer for use.
